How It Works

This is a word ladder game with airport codes. You can only travel between airports if their three-letter codes differ by exactly one letter.

How to use this tool and understand the one-letter difference rule.

The One-Letter Difference Rule

You can only travel between airports if their three-letter airport codes differ by exactly one letter. For example:

LAX

LAS

Changed letter 3: X to S

JFK

JMK

Changed letter 2: F to M

SFO

LAX

Invalid: Multiple letter differences

How to Use

The map will display the path visually, and the path list will show each step

Understanding the Results

The path finder uses a breadth-first search algorithm to find the shortest path between airports following the one-letter difference constraint. If no path exists, the application will tell you.

Map Navigation

You can zoom in and out using the mouse wheel or the zoom controls in the top-right corner of the map. Click and drag to pan around the map. When a path is found, the map will automatically center on it.
